In the previous blog we talked about how to choose a good quality chain to protect your bikes. When it comes to motorcycles or mopeds, a padlock + chain locking system may not be enough and, in order to sleep more soundly, it may be useful to integrate it with additional protection, such as a disc lock.
The disc lock is a widely used anti-theft system on mopeds and motorcycles as they are very easy to use: quick to put on and take off, don’t take up much space and are not very heavy. However, disc stops have some security limitations which are important to know, especially to be able to use them in the best possible way.
Is the equation “secure door = armoured door” always true? No! Because not all armoured doors are secure and because it may not be necessary to have an armoured door to obtain a secure door.
As we have already seen in a previous blog, armoured doors are not all made the same. Many cheap products are armoured in name only. Moreover, in many contexts, it is not only the main door which has to be defended, as there are many secondary accesses that can be attacked by thieves (such as patio doors leading to gardens and balconies, access doors to condominium garages and/or basements etc.) in which it may not be possible, or convenient, to install armoured doors.
Amongst the many advantages offered by European profile cylinders there is also that of being able to easily change the cylinder if you want to install a better one or if the existing one is causing problems. In fact, fitting and removing this type of cylinder is very easy; here is a step by step guide. Continue reading
If we know what are the techniques used by thieves to enter our homeswe can take the necessary countermeasures. As also reconfirmed in 2017 (with data for the previous 2 years) from an official source such as ISTAT, the National Statistics Institute, which published a report on crimes and security, since 2008 the number of thefts in the apartment has definitely increased.
In 2010 (last year available for this analysis) ISTAT also published a chart with statistics of how thieves enter homes.
Which is the most commonly used technique? And what measures must be taken to defend your home?
If you were asked: “where do you think would be the safest place to park your car or motorbike?”, your instinct would probably be to say: “in the garage”. However, a garage whose door is not reinforced may be, paradoxically, less secure than leaving the car or motorbike parked on the roadside. In fact, a thief who manages to sneak in by forcing the garage door has all the time to act calmly without being seen, while in the street they must generally act quickly, out of fear of being noticed.
How can the garage be reinforced?
The choice of lock (and, therefore, the cylinder) for the entrance door is often the most carefully considered, because it has the task of defending the main access to the house. The lock must be as strong as possible to resist any type of attack and the European profile cylinder is currently the most complete and cutting-edge system for the role it must cover: in combination with the lock, to prevent unwanted access.
However, although one cylinder might appear to be the same as another, details are hidden inside which denote a good quality cylinder, which is able to offer security and reliability over time.
We are about to reveal them to you!
In what ways will artificial intelligence change the spaces we live in and its security?
“Domotics”, meaning the science of home automation, has already been spoken about in recent years. Increasingly advanced technologies will contribute towards safeguarding our home and a “virtual secretary” will also arrive in Italy to remind us to lock the door, switch on the burglar alarm and much more.
When we talk about security systems for houses, we mean all the measures that can be taken to better protect our homes from unwanted access.
We can talk about mechanical or electronic locking systems, used singly or combined, always paying attention to exploit them to the fullest.
There is also the widespread idea that, by following the advice on how to prevent thefts, such as minor measures which can be found online, also diffused by traditional media, general security is increasing.
What are the most common indications in this regard? And why are they not always appropriate?
In the previous blog we tried to answer a question we have been asked many times, about electric locks and their use. However this week, as promised, we will show you other qualities of the Viro electric locks, which are not only resistant, but also functional and versatile.
Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated by lovers around most of the world, is upon us.
Its origin dates back to the ancient Romans, whilst the recurrence, as we know it today (with a more commercial connotation), spread worldwide mostly during the last century. Each country observes different customs to celebrate the day, although the recurring theme is always that of love.
For this occasion, we will talk about our padlocks in an unusual way, not in terms of security, but in the more “romantic” sense of the product.
