Master Key: the key system for shops and offices

In the last post we saw how to open all the locks with the same key, thanks to the KA system.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, all these locks must often be operated by different people: owner, shop assistants, administrative staff, suppliers… which adds a further layer of complexity and possible confusion. In this case it may be useful to be able to give each person or group of people a key which only opens certain doors and not others.

Ensure that everyone can only open locks for which they have authorisation

Often it is not necessary that everyone can open all the locks, but, on the contrary it is necessary that some people can only access certain areas. For example, the sales staff must be able to open the shutters and doors to the shop, but maybe they should not have access to the offices. The regular suppliers must have access to loading/unloading areas but not to other areas. The owner or the manager must, on the other hand, have the ability to open all the locks.

In these cases it is possible to use a master key system(MK ), where there are 2 levels of access. The master key, which opens all the locks, and individual keys which open a single lock.

A master key system can, if necessary, be integrated with keyed alike systems, so that individual keys can open more than one lock.

In this way, the owner, the manager or whoever is in possession of the master key can open all the locks with this key, whilst the persons in possession of individual keys for locks that form part of KA groups may only open locks for that group.

Also in this case there are many Viro products which can be included in a master key system. This possibility is indicated in the product pages of the website by the term “all special executions are possible”. As for the keyed alike systems, the master key systems can also be requested directly from Viro retailers.

Conceiving and creating a keyed alike or master key system may seem more complicated than buying and installing individual locks, but one must merely rely on a good locksmith or qualified retailer in order to resolve the issue smoothly and set up a system which greatly simplifies the everyday life and improves security by implementing several access authorisations.

All the security products used in the different applications can be controlled by the same key art. 015 (also with patented profile), or be part of an MK master key system (passepartout type).
