Faced with the need to protect the shutter of a shop or a room, one of the first things you think of is to purchase a padlock. However, not all padlocks are suitable for this purpose and each security item can be more or less suitable to cover a specific role, depending on the particular features, as we have often mentioned in our previous blogs.
For the best protection of shutters, Viro suggests the Panzer padlock which allows various applications, due to its shape, physical and mechanical characteristics and functionalities. In fact, although its natural role is to protect shutters, whether it is for shops, garages or storage rooms, this padlock also has many other uses.
The Panzer model, which is one of the most successful armoured Viro padlocks, comes in several types:
Panzer with steel armour:
this model is available in versions with 1 or 2 lock-bolts. Practically elusive with burglary tools and with a maximum security mechanism, it is the ideal solution for locking shutters, doors and gates. Also, the version with 2 lock-bolts integrates with the chains and containers of trucks in a convenient and perfect manner.
For maximum security and ease of use, the version with 2 housings is fitted with independent deadbolts.
Panzer with stainless steel armour and components:
it stands out for its resistance to corrosion and is therefore suitable for places subject to aggressive atmospheric agents such as, for example, warehouses and stores in coastal areas, containers for goods transport or self service columns in fuel stations.
Panzer designed for half cylinder:
compatible with any 40 mm half profile cylinder, its allows application and/or replacement with ease. The advantage lies in the possibility of autonomously creating systems with a eyed alike or master key system, changing the encryption and the keys, keying cylinders and padlocks together and managing the accesses, for example, by using patented half cylinders with a controlled duplication profile (e.g. Viro item 1.772.Pv or .PB and 880.30.10 .PV or .PB).
In its various versions the armoured Panzer padlock therefore performs various functions and can be used in different circumstances.
Amongst these, this armoured padlock is particularly suitable in the following cases:
-
Protection of shutters
-
Protection of the back of a van, thanks to compatibility with fixed and mobile eyelets.
To learn how to improve the security of each lock and find out more about the installation and compatibility of fixed and mobile eyelets with the Panzer, read here.
-
Suitable for use with chain (especially for Panzer with 2 lock-bolts) for the protection of gates, forklifts and other work equipment etc.
-
Protection of vending machines.

Hi, will any of your locks work with 5/9″ chain?
Dear Rick,
the chain clearance must be higher than the dead-bolt diameter. When you say 5/9″ chain are you meaning the clearance or the diameter of the chain?
Consider that for 5″ clearance you could consider our item 4115 with one dead-bolt or item 4125 with 2 indipendent dead-bolts. They both have diameter 4″.
For chain clearance from 6″ to 9″ you can consider our items 4116, 4117 with 1 dead-bolt or item 4126 with 2 indipendent dead-bolt. For technical sheets of these items check this link:

Remember that it is recommended not to buy a padlock with an excessively large shackle which leaves useless empty space free where shears, levers or burglary tools can be inserted. For more detail read this article:

each time i used to read smaller content that also clear their motive, and that is also happening with this post which I am
